ERICKA L. MAULDIN- Owner of EDIT TALENT GROUP and CHICKS THAT PITCH
Building an empire, giving back and leaving a legacy for her family is what keeps this single mother of four motivated.
Born and raised in Covington, Kentucky, Ericka L. Mauldin, Television Producer has always lived her life focused and passionate about working in the television industry. Her earliest memories were as a little girl (apprx 6 yrs. of age), watching the "Flintstones" on her little black and white television and as Fred walked across the screen she would attempt to color his clothing in orange.
During her high school years, she attended Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky where she majored in Academic Engineering and pursued her course studies in the dual honors International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement program.
At the age of 16, Ericka gave birth to her daughter Aerial and with the assistance of her mother maintained steady employment and continued her high school career. She participated in many academia and community based organizations and held class offices including President of her Senior Class. In 1991, Ericka received acceptances to attend Spelman College, Louisiana State University, Northern Kentucky University and University of Cincinnati. Ericka accepted a full ride to Northern Kentucky University and majored in pre-law with a minor in English.
Although Ericka had a passion for the arts and entertainment industry, it did not seem realistic as her college was not offering a program to pursue her degree in that area. In 1992, Ericka feeling out of place and overwhelmed by taking classes in her program, decided to speak with her counselor and perform a career assessment to determine what was the best route to take. THE RESULTS all pointed to the arts and entertainment industry and fortunate for Ericka, the school had just started a Radio, Television and Film program. Ericka changed her major and pursued dance as a minor and did well.
Ericka pursued the program but because of personal reasons had to take a break. Her break helped her to determine her next move and Ericka moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and reapplied to the University of Cincinnati's Electronic Media Program. She was accepted and minored in Theatrical Makeup and while participating in the program accepted a position as a receptionist with WSTR-TV. Her position led her to working in Master Control and Production as an associate producer. Through mentors and support of others, Ericka was able to build her skill set in a dual career in both production and makeup. Ericka graduated from the university in 2000 and has worked on many television and video productions. Ericka pursued her dual career in the cosmetics industry as an Makeup Artist, Trainer and Executive and gained extensive knowledge that assisted in building her knowledge in the industry. To date, Ericka has been blessed and honored to have work for and with many industry leaders and organizations and has completed her MBA.
Ericka has a passion for giving back. Ericka had a vision that would forever change the direction of her career. After, careful evaluation of her knowledge, successes and connections, Ericka started Mommy Mauldin Productions which provided freelance video production services in 2003. Producing multiple projects to include: The Vineyard, a inspirational entertainment show promoting well known Christian artists, organizations and industry favorites.
In 2008, Mommy Mauldin changed its name and its business strategy and became EDIT TALENT GROUP. EDIT TALENT GROUP now provides professional video production opportunities to individuals that work in the television industry along with providing professional services for corporate, broadcast and ministries across the United States. The vision didn't stop, in 2009, EDIT COSMETICS was born. EDIT Cosmetics offers professional makeup artistry services in the areas of television and video production. And most recently she has joined ventures with Sound of Authority of Chicago, one of the leading sound companies in the Midwest and LaLuxury Bliss, of New York, which provides location and relocation services for individuals in the arts and entertainment industries and collaboration with Seeds Production, a provider of original content programming. In 2013, Ericka's "brainchild", Chicks That Pitch was born. Her goal with this company is to provide unique professional distribution services for television focusing on original content.
Married and now divorced, Ericka is now residing in Chicago, Illinois and the mother of 4 beautiful children, Aerial, Andre, Amani and Aninah. She is also the proud grandmother "GG" of Kynnedi and Myla.
Ericka states....."My relationship with God is my foundation and what sustains me through it all. Life will throw you curve balls, but if you throw them back....your more likely to hit the assailant right in the face". Ericka has received many honors and recognition's for her work and contributions to the community. Her ultimate goal, is to own and operate a multi-million dollar television distribution facility housing a multi-station television network distributing programming across the world.
